Visual artist and film-maker, Hito Steyerl (Munich, 1966) is among the most influential figures of our time. Her works are critical reflections on the contemporary digital age and focus on the pervasive role of technology and the circulation of images in the era of globalization. Her installations, bordering from cinema to visual art, are immersive architectural environments that investigate how technology and Artificial Intelligence shape reality and his experience today. This catalog accompanies the exhibition The city of broken windows (2018) at Castello di Rivoli and contains unpublished essays by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev and Marianna Vecellio, curators of the exhibition, and by the feminist art historian Griselda Pollock.
